Ms. Gutierrez earned her Master in Education (with specialization in Chemistry) from the Hiroshima University under the Monbukagakusho Scholarship in Japan.  She is currently taking up her PhD in Education (major in Chemistry) at the University of the Philippines Open University. She is the lead person for the core group of AgIMat (short for Agham, Impormasyon at Matematika), a UP NISMED website dedicated primarily to public school teachers wherein multimedia teaching/learning and professional development materials are accessed for free. She has been involved in several national development projects, teacher education programs, and research projects in science education. Her research areas of interest include student thinking patterns, concept and skill progression, nature of science, authentic assessment, and the use of educational technology and inquiry-based approaches in science teaching.
